LOCATIONS: WESTFIELD NJ (UNION COUNTY)

Earta earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland College Park and completed her clinical internship at the University of Virginia, her research focused on the emotional, cognitive and behavioral aspects of anxiety and disorders which often accompany it. During her training she worked with clients from diverse backgrounds based on age, socioeconomic status, gender, gender identity, religion, and ethnicity, including students, active military, veterans, and members of the LGBT+ community.

Trained in a range of cognitive, behavioral, and emotion focused approaches, her approach to psychotherapy and mental health counseling is integrative and eclectic, centering on creating a treatment tailored to a client’s needs. Most importantly, she likes to remain current with research in the field, and to apply the findings from that research in her work.

Earta’s work with people from the LGBT+ community, with active-duty military personnel, and with veterans gave her a sense and understanding of the profound impact therapy can have in helping people make sense of difficult and traumatic experiences, allowing them to find relief, healing, meaning and hope. She spent an internship rotation at the Whitman-Walker Health in Washington, D.C., providing walk-in crisis counseling and individual therapy, plus facilitating group treatment for adults from the LGBT+ community. Additionally, Earta engaged in treatment and research at several Army posts, working with the Chaplains at Fort Benning and Fort Huachuca to help with the mental health treatment of soldiers returning from deployment. Her work as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University, focused on the Army’s Post-Deployment Health Reassessment Program at Fort Campbell and the Nashville Veterans’ Administration PTSD treatment program, had a crucial influence on her thinking and career in Clinical Psychology.
